Annie teaches you how to make Quilt Collages inspired by the Quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend on Midweek Masterpiece from Arts For Life’s Virtual Studio!

For several generations, the women of the small, isolated, Black community of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, have produced some of the most unique, innovative, and beautiful textile designs in the world.

The materials you need:

  • One sheet of thick paper
  • Assorted colored + patterned papers: magazine papers, wrapping paper, origami paper, scrapbooking paper.
  • Papers and flat objects from around your house that you don’t mind cutting and using for art that say something about you: birthday cards, artwork you created in the past, photographs, old notes or letters, hospital bracelets, postcards, grocery or to-do lists, playbills or brochures from places you’ve visited.
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

If you want to show us what you made today, please post a picture in the comments.
